FAMILY PRAYER WALK
At Dunes Harbor Family Camp, we are all about creating family experiences that live on through generations. Our passion is for families to connect together, get away from the distractions of everyday life, and share new and exciting experiences.
We understand that God created the family unit to strengthen and raise up individuals that can carry on His mission. Through this prayer walk we hope that you will grow closer together as a family and to God.
Enjoy a meaningful walk together as you explore the Dunes Harbor Prayer Walk. This self-guided experience follows our 0.4-mile Lakeside Trail, winding through the peaceful woods, along the shoreline of Lake Holiday, and ending near the back of our group campsites.
Along the trail, you’ll discover six interactive stations designed to help your family slow down, enjoy God’s creation, and grow together in faith. At each station, you’ll find a sign featuring fun nature facts, a Bible passage, conversation starters, and a suggested prayer.
This webpage expands on each stop with additional Scripture, family discussion ideas, and an activity that helps bring the lesson to life. Whether your children are young or grown, we hope these moments spark meaningful conversations and create lasting memories together.
As you walk, take your time. Listen to the sounds of creation, notice the beauty God has placed around you, and allow this journey to remind you of His love, His faithfulness, and His presence in every season of life.
Don’t forget to visit all six stations along the trail! We pray this experience encourages your family, strengthens your faith, and helps you see God’s handiwork in both creation and in one another.
Enjoy your walk!
Start at the west end of the park near sight 145.

Genesis 1:1
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
Romans 1:20
“For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities– his eternal power and divine nature– have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.”
TALK ABOUT IT
That means that everything we see around us was made by the hands of God, the same God that loves you. When we look around in nature, we can see God’s beautiful creation and be reminded of Him and His promises to us.
DO IT
As you walk, each family member should look for something along the trail or in the woods that reminds you of God. Get creative! Once everyone has found an item, gather together and have each person share what they found and which quality of God they see in it. (Example: you might point out the roots of a tree and share how God is a strong foundation).

Lamentations 3:22-23
The LORD’S loving kindnesses indeed never cease, For His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.
Joshua 4:1-7
“When the whole nation had finished crossing the Jordan, the LORD said to Joshua, “Choose twelve men from among the people, one from each tribe, and tell them to take up twelve stones from the middle of the Jordan from right where the priests stood and to carry them over with you and put them down at the place where you stay tonight.” So Joshua called together the twelve men he had appointed from the Israelites, one from each tribe, and said to them, “Go over before the ark of the LORD your God into the middle of the Jordan. Each of you is to take up a stone on his shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the Israelites, to serve as a sign among you. In the future, when your children ask you, ‘What do these stones mean?’ tell them that the flow of the Jordan was cut off before the ark of the covenant of the LORD. When it crossed the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off. These stones are to be a memorial to the people of Israel forever.”
TALK ABOUT IT
In the Old Testament, God directed His people to build monuments as reminders of times when He was faithful. Think of a time in your life that God felt especially real to you or you saw God come through for you in a hard time.
DO IT
Look for a stone or object along the path. Gather as a family and share your story of God’s faithfulness. Pray and thank God for his faithfulness. Be specific as your remember what God did and how he came through for you. When you are done, build a monument with your family stones and leave it in this place.

1 Chronicles 16:34
Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.
TALK ABOUT IT
Share with your family a time you got a very good surprise or gift. When something good happens, how do you want to respond? Does it make you celebrate or say thank you? God is good, all the time. He loves giving good things to his children and will work out all things for good, even when it’s hard to see at the time.

Psalm 23:1-3
The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.
TALK ABOUT IT
What’s the job of a shepherd? To take care of sheep! In Bible times, the sheep recognized their shepherd by his voice, and they would only listen to and follow him. When we’re walking through hard times, it’s comforting to know that we have a shepherd, or guide leading us. What are you going through right now that you need the guidance of your Shepherd?
DO IT
Let’s practice your listening skills. Choose one family member to close their eyes. Take turns in your family saying something, a funny word, a joke or an animal sound and see if you can guess which family member’s voice you are hearing. Pray together thanking God for being a good shepherd and asking him to guide your path.

Praying for others is one of the best ways we can show them love. Even if they’ve not sick or going through a hard time, we can still ask God to guide, protect and care for them.
